Do You Know?

Darling, do you know what it is like to die?
Do you know what it is like to hate yourself
And drown in your own thoughts.
Because I do.

I know what it is like to lay in bed
And stare at the ceiling hoping to get some sleep
Because the voices in your head won’t leave you alone.

I know what it is like to scream into your pillow
When the world has become too much and it
Is the only release that you can find at night.

I know what it is like to look in a mirror
And hate what you see.
To have tears role down your face
Because you can’t stand it anymore.

I know what it is like to have your heart die
When you are still living.
It is not something that I would wish on anyone.
So when you ask me if I know what

It is like to die,
I would answer “yes”
Because I already have.
