You and I are old friends.
Playing this twisted game of
Who hates who more.
You have come and gone
So much that I open the door
And greet you once more.
I have welcomed you
Back into my life so many times
That I forgot what it’s like
To live without you.
You swallow my soul
And spit out what you don’t
Find useful.
I thought it would be nice to let you in
But they didn’t tell me that you don’t
Play fair.
They didn’t tell me that I would
Sacrifice my heart just so I could
Feel something.
Anything at all.
I came to terms with the fact
That you will never be truly gone
Not as long as I keep the door open
Just a crack.
You’ll always find your
Way back.
There are not monsters
Hiding in my closet.
Instead they remain on
The other side of the mirror
Staring back to me every day
Saying “Hello my old friend”.

Sometimes it's hard when your mind likes to play tricks on you. The thing we need to worry about most is if we want it to stay or not.
Let me know what you think.
Let me know what you think.
